See It In Action

A score made for you, not the crowd

Swipe your taste, and every movie and show gets a personal 0–100 Match Score.

Why ReelCritic

Stop scrolling. Start watching the right thing.

Everyone's seen the same "9.2 on IMDb" and still not known if they'd like it. ReelCritic learns your actual taste and answers the only question that matters: is this one for me?

Your personal 0–100 Match Score

Search any movie or show and instantly see a score built for your taste — green for a strong match, red for skip — with a clear, honest reason why.

Swipe to teach it your taste

Right to love, left to pass — a minute of swiping and your critic knows you. Dislikes count as much as loves.

For You, without the feed fatigue

Personal picks, film videos, and trusted articles live together in one focused view. Every recommendation starts with your Match Score.

Your contextual AI critic

Start with a title, a score, or a recommendation and ask what matters to you. ReelCritic keeps the conversation spoiler-aware and grounded in your taste.

See where to watch

Check streaming, rental, purchase, and theater availability for your country, then open the provider directly when a link is available.

Private by design

Your taste profile lives on your device. ReelCritic ships with no third-party tracking SDKs — no ad networks, no analytics resellers watching what you watch.

A private movie diary

Keep the date, your 0–100 score, a note, and whether you'd watch again — without slowing down a quick swipe.

Compare taste with a friend

Share a private link or QR code and find the overlap — calculated on-device, with no account required.

A critic that works for you, not advertisers. Your taste profile stays on your device, and there are no tracking SDKs in the app. Match Scores and chat are powered by Anthropic's Claude; movie & TV data is from TMDB.

Under the Hood

How the Score Learns You

Scored against your own ratings

Every Match Score request carries up to fourteen titles you have already rated — your highest, your lowest, and a couple from the middle — so the 0–100 scale is anchored to films you personally graded instead of to abstract taste adjectives.

Disagreeing recalibrates it

Correct a Match Score by eight points or more and the app sends both numbers — what it predicted and what you said — as an explicit calibration correction, so similar titles move in that direction next time. Fast swiping is folded into one teaching call that keeps each raw 0–100 value rather than flattening it to like or dislike.

Friend comparison never hits a server

The entire taste profile rides inside the share link's URL fragment, which browsers never transmit to a server, and the percent match is computed on the phone: a Jaccard-plus-overlap-coefficient blend of both tag sets, minus roughly five points for each love-versus-avoid conflict. No account, no server-side copy of either person's taste.

No API keys in the binary

All movie and TV lookups route through the app's own backend, so the TMDB and OMDb keys stay server-side and cannot be pulled out of a downloaded copy of the app. The project links zero third-party Swift packages, so there is no analytics or ad SDK in the build at all.

How We Compare

A Score That's Yours, Not the Crowd's

Review aggregators tell you what everyone thought; streaming guides tell you where a title lives. ReelCritic answers the only question that actually decides your evening — whether you will like it.
