The idea in one paragraph
Photograph a box, a shelf, or a single thing. Every item in the photo gets listed, you correct anything that is wrong, and each thing is filed into a room and — if you are packing — a numbered box. Later you type "Blade Runner" and the app tells you it is in the Living Room, in Box 3, and shows you the photo of that box.
Scanning
What should I photograph? An open box, a shelf, a drawer, or one object. The app is built for the many-things case: one photo of an open box is the fastest way to inventory it.
It got something wrong. That is expected, which is why nothing is saved until you approve it. Every scan opens a list where you can rename anything, change a quantity, remove a row, or add something it missed. Your wording is what gets saved, and nothing in the app ever writes over a name you set — if a later scan finds the same thing in the same place, it adds to the count and leaves your name alone.
It missed things at the back. Take a second photo of the same box — the app keeps the box open and adds to it. If the same item appears in both shots it is flagged rather than silently merged, so you decide whether it is one thing photographed twice or genuinely two.
Can I add things without a photo? Yes. "Add one by hand" is always available and uses no scans. Unlimited, free, forever.
What about paperwork? Documents and mail are meant to come back as "a stack of paperwork" — that is deliberate, not a limitation. The AI is instructed not to report the words printed on your documents, and our server strips personal numbers and addresses out of any result before it reaches your phone.
Boxes
Do I need to buy labels or print QR codes? No — and this is deliberate. Write the number the app gives you on the real box with a marker. That is the whole system.
What is "sealing" a box? It marks the box finished and stamps everything inside as Got Organized. You can unseal it later.
I deleted a box by mistake. Deleting a box does not delete what was inside it. Those items stay in your inventory and go back to being loose in the room the box was standing in — still Got Organized, because they still have a home. Only if the box did not belong to a room do they become unplaced and appear in "things need a home" on the Home tab. The app tells you which of the two will happen before you confirm.
The two numbers, and the "&"
Identified is everything the app knows you own. Got Organized is how much of it has a home — a room, and optionally a box. The ampersand is the stamp: giving something a home is what earns it. Both numbers count things, so an entry of three identical mugs counts as three.
Why did my count go down? Marking something donated or thrown out removes it from both numbers — it is no longer in your home. It stays searchable forever under those tags, which is how you answer "what did I donate last year?"
Syncing and privacy
Do I need an account? No. The whole app works without signing in to anything — nothing is locked behind an account, and nothing stops working if you never sign in. Your inventory syncs through your own iCloud, so it appears on your other devices automatically.
There is a "Sign in with Apple" button. Do I have to use it? No — it is optional and it never gates a feature. It is Apple's sign-in rather than one of ours, so you choose whether to share your name and email or use Apple's private relay address, and it creates no account on a server of ours because we do not run one. It also does not move your inventory anywhere, and it is not your backup — that is what the iCloud sync above is doing. If you would rather not sign in, do not: everything on this page still applies.
I got a new phone. How do I get my inventory back? Sign in to iCloud with the same Apple Account you used before, install the app, and your rooms, boxes, items and photos come back on their own — that is what the iCloud sync is doing all along. Nothing to restore from us, because we never had a copy. The one thing to know: if you erase your iCloud copy, it is gone, and we cannot recover it for you.
Sync isn't working. Check that iCloud Drive is on and that the same Apple Account is signed in on both devices. The app works completely offline; it will catch up when it can.
Do my photos go anywhere? Only the one photo you are actively scanning, and only to identify it. Our server never stores it or logs it; Anthropic, which does the identifying, deletes what is sent through its API automatically within 30 days and never uses it to train anything. Everything else stays on your device and in your iCloud. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Can I lock the app? Yes — Settings → Face ID lock. Worth it if you use the Safe or Vault rooms.
Pro
The free app is a complete inventory tool: unlimited items added by hand, unlimited rooms and boxes, full search, the stamp, and a few AI scans every day. Pro lifts the daily scan limit and adds the insurance-ready report — and everything you can do by hand stays free.
Monthly, yearly, or one-time — the one-time purchase never renews. Prices are shown in the app by the App Store in your own currency.
Restoring a purchase: Settings → Restore purchases, signed in with the Apple Account that bought it. Cancelling: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling a free trial before it ends costs nothing.
Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com — we cannot issue them, but tell us what went wrong and we will fix it.
The insurance-ready report
Where is it? Settings → Insurance-ready report → Create a report. It is a Pro feature; on the free plan the row opens the Pro screen instead.
What comes out? Two files at once — a US-Letter PDF grouped by room and box, and a CSV of the same inventory. The share sheet lets you send both, or either one on its own, so you can save them to Files, mail them, or drop them in your own cloud.
What is in it? Every item, its quantity, the room and box it lives in, and whether it has been organized. Things you recorded as donated or thrown out are left out of the totals but kept in the CSV, so the report describes your home while the spreadsheet keeps the history.
It is not an appraisal. The report is document formatting for your own records — no value is assigned to anything, and any figures in it are ones you typed yourself. Check your actual coverage with your insurer; this does not replace talking to them.
Accessibility
The app supports Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, and Reduce Motion. If something is unreadable or unreachable for you, that is a bug worth an email — tell us what you use and we will fix it.
